DynaLiners Daily - Far East-US East Coast since 2010
DynaLiners Tuesday 7 October 2018 - Since 2010, annual trade capacity on the Far East-US East Coast route increased from 3.53 million TEU to 6.19 million TEU, a rise of 75%. Until 2016, the average shipboard capacity was capped by the dimensions of the Panama Canal, with the only alternative to sail via Suez. Since the opening of the Panama Canal's larger locks (allowing vessels of up to some 14,000 TEU to transit), ship size has grown fast. Overall, the average is now 80% bigger than it was ten years ago.
